Wayne County Probation Department / Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative (JDAI) hosted another Policing The Teen Brain (PTTB) training. The training was led by Richmond Police Officer Matt Smith, who trained local law enforcement officers in cutting-edge practices and research on their interactions with youth. PTTB training includes: 

    • Key elements of adolescent brain development
    • Why teen perceive, process, and respond differently than adults
    • Recognizing and responding to common mental health issues among teens
    • Videos, small groups, role plays, and other meaningful and engaging strategies for the local law enforcement officers

The training was supported by Wayne County Juvenile Probation Officers. Special thanks to Richmond Community Schools for providing the space to hold the training. 

Over 100 local law enforcement officers have completed this 2-day training.
