Pretrial Services
What are Pretrial Services?
The Pretrial Services Program is a service provided by the Wayne County Probation Department which seeks to maximize court appearance while maintaining public safety. Pretrial Services staff are responsible for conducting legal background checks, scoring risk assessment tools, and interviewing individuals in the pretrial stage of their current case. Information gathered during this process is provided to the Court to assist the Court in making prompt and equitable pretrial release decisions. Moreover, this information helps the Courts determine adequate release conditions to promote community safety and provide appropriate monitoring to support a defendant’s ability to meet court obligations.
